Finally! A Kat Von D Blush is mine ^_^!

Since I've been struggling to find a decent post college job, I haven't had much disposable money for unnecessary makeup T_T. Sad times, I know. But today, I finally returned some products to Sephora that I wasn't particularly happy with ::cough::NARSLipgloss::cough:: and traded them in for some things I'm much happier with...

I FINALLY was able to purchase Kat Von D's new Everlasting Face Shaper Blush! I'm ecstatic. It's absolutely gorgeous. I picked up a blush in the color Heartagram. Yay for the HIM reference; they're one of my favorite bands- ohmygod, it was meant to be ^_^. Such a great name which is something I love about her line.

First off, just look at the packaging. It's beautiful. I'm a big fan of her own artwork on her packaging. It's sleek and black. And has a modern, gothy art deco feel.

Okay, I have to talk about this color. It's so bright. It's so pigmented. It's so out of my comfort zone. I had to go for it! I just fell completely in love with the color. It's a dark rose color and definitely the darkest shade in her blush collection at the moment. Because It's so pigmented and dark, you need very little product. This thing is huge too. It's .25oz/7.0g for $25 dollars. For comparison on what you get, NARS blush is .16oz/4.8g for $29 dollars. A great buy for the Kat Von D blush.

I also grabbed one of her Painted Love Lipsticks. Her lipsticks are one of my absolute favorite lipsticks brands. The formula is great, the color pigmentation is amazing, the lasting power is awesome too.
And of course, I can't not mention the badass packaging.

The color is Hellbent and it's a rich blood red. I am always on the search for amazing red lipsticks. When it comes to red lipstick, I live for deep, dark reds. And I think I may have found the perfect deep red. I do wish it was matte though because I just prefer matte lipstick, and maybe someday she will get more mattes in her line, but I'm not gonna fuss about it. The color is delicious. For $19 dollars, I will continue to buy them.

Once again, can we just admire the outside box packaging for these products. I LOVE it so much. I always keep my Kat Von d boxes!

I can't help it, they just look so good sitting on a vanity

First Aid Beauty

I want to share a miracle product. A product that has changed my life!! Seriously! I'd be a mess with out this stuff. Until I found this product, I was always on the search to find something, ANYTHING, that wouldn't hurt my ultra sensitive, always dry skin. I really can't use lotion products with scent. Everything I use, even baby lotion, makes my skin, especially my face and hands, red, gives me bumps, and breaks me out in a rash. I was beginning to think I would never find anything that would actually help my annoying problem, until I went through the stash of Sephora samples and found this gem. I gave the sample a try and I was so impressed, I went to the Sephora website and bought the full size 6 oz. jar of the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Creme

The formula of this cream product is rich and thick, but light wight and silky. It really penetrates the skin and doesn't leave you feeling greasy. It moisturizes even the driest, most irritated skin, which I have. It cleared up the dryness and redness on my hands and it has also helped the dry patches I get on my face. Yes, you can use it on your face because it is so gentile.
I love that a small amount of this stuff goes a LONG way. The 6 oz. jar is around $30 but it has lasted me about a year and I use it everyday. It seems like a lot of money for skin cream but it's well worth the price.

I wish I had before and after pictures of my skin but I never though to take picture of the condition my skin was in before I started using this product. Plus, I've always been pretty embarrassed about how bad my hands looked and I didn't feel like flaunting that.

The description of this awesome stuff on Sephora's website also says:
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

What else you need to know:
Safe for even the most sensitive skin. Petroleum-free. It contains Colloidal Oatmeal, the only FDA-approved, OTC ingredient for eczema. It's allergy-tested, dermatologist-recommended, and contains FAB Antioxidant Booster to combat free radicals.

If you have dry skin, eczema, "atopic dermatitis, irritant eczema, allergic eczema, and keratosis pilaris" give this stuff a try!! I LOVE it.

Metallic Sapphire

The lighting made my skin look discolored and odd. But I'm also not wearing foundation.

Electric blue! What I used:
  • MAC Paint in Bare Canvas all over lid
  • NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean as a base all over lid
  • Black eyesahdow in the crease. I used KVD Lucifer
  • Costal Scents loose mica powder in Metallic Sapphire. I also used it wet and applied it to the lid and inner lower lash line
  • Kat von D's Metal Orchestra palette color First Class, a shimmery white, in the inner corners
  • Physicians Formula Eye-Booster pen eyeliner in Ultra Black
  • Urban Decay 24/7 eyepencil in Zero
  • Benefit They're Real! Mascara on top and bottom lashes

    Red, Bold and Gold

These colors looks great for fall. Rich, warm and bright.

    What I used:
    • Urban Decay primer in Eden all over the lid.
    • NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base all over lid to cover any unevenness and brighten the colors that will be used.
    • Make Up For Ever Star Powder in Iridescent Red 949 applied to the inner portion of the lid and outer portion of eyelid, leaving the middle bare. (I also used this color on the outer 2/3 of lower lash line leaving the inner corner bare as well.)
    • NYX Jumbo pencil in True Gold used as base for middle part of lid.
    • bareMinerals True Gold color applied over gold NYX base on middle of lid. I also foiled it with MAC’s Fix +. (I applied the gold NYX jumbo pencil base on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and applied the bareMinerals shadow over it and foiled it as well.)
    • Kat Von D color Peanut (from the True Love palette or the Tattoo Chronicles Vol. 1 Palette) used as a highlight or blending color to stop the red from going to high up on the brow bone. This color is quite light and shimmery, if you want to tone the look and the shimmer down use a matte eyeshadow slightly lighter than your skin tone.
    • KvD color Tijuana (from the Memento Mori palette) used in the outer v and lower lash line used to darken and smoke out the outer v. A matte dark brown would work well too, like MAC's Brown Down.
    • Blend! Make sure all the colors blend together seamlessly.
    • bareMinerals Queen Phyllis applied in the inner corner of the eye.
    • Revlon Colorstay liquid eyeliner in black to create a dramatic winged eyeliner.
    • MAC Blacktrack Fluidline wiggled between the upper lashes and applied to the upper waterline.
    • Finish the look by applying mascara, I used Maybelline Colossal mascara in Glam Black. (for volume at base of lashes) Revlon Fabulash in black.

    New Start!

This is my new makeup blog. My other blog, makeupbordello.blogspot.com, was kind of destroyed. Instead of re-posing everything that was deleted on that blog (because I didn't save my posts or picture) I thought I'd just start fresh! I might post a few entries from my former blog here because I liked a few of the tutorials I had done. I'll try and stay up to date with this one and post more frequently.
